Program Director & South Series Coach

drew southworth

Hailing from the Green Mountain State known as Vermont, Drew started his skiing career 37 years ago on the icy east coast. After calling it quits to his ski racing career, Drew started his coaching career and worked for Killington Mountain School and Killington Ski Club with the U16/U18 athletes for 3 seasons before moving out to Utah. The 2024-25 season will be Drew’s 19th season coaching, his 16th with the Brighton Ski team and 9th season as the Team’s Program Director. Drew is a U.S. Ski & Snowboard Level 100 Certified Coach. In addition to being the Program Director, Drew also holds the South Series head coaching position, where his main focus will be to work on maintaining and fine tuning the athlete’s technique and fundamentals, both in and outside of the race course. In addition to skiing and racing, Drew loves mountain biking and spending time in the great outdoors with his wife Kathy and his daughter Gabriela.

Development Director

spencer dirats

Spencer grew up racing in the northeast and started coaching high school athletes in 2012. In 2017, she moved to Salt Lake City, UT where she now works in Sport Education for U.S. Ski & Snowboard. Spencer is a U.S. Ski & Snowboard Level 300 Certified Coach, and the 2024-25 season will be her 8th with the Brighton Ski Team! While Spencer’s role these days is centered more around coaching the coaches, she’ll be on-hill working with all teams on Saturdays, up at UOP with our older athletes, and at races throughout the season.

Before her whole life revolved around skiing, Spencer had a 9-year teaching career, and her time in the classroom has strongly influenced her approach to coaching: centered around the balance between developing both the physical skills and the mental-social-emotional skills necessary to help athletes grow into healthy and fierce competitors.

Devo Coach: Savannah Davenport

Hello! I’m Savannah Davenport, but most people call me Sav! I’ve been skiing since before I could walk, starting with ski racing for Brighton at age 6 and later racing for Snowbird until I was 16. I’ve been coaching at Snowbird for the past four years and now I coach at Brighton as well. I love spending time with kiddos and I focus on building confidence, having fun while being safe, and teaching skills they’ll carry into their future skiing careers. I’m graduating this spring from Westminster University with a degree in business management and look forward to building a career in the ski industry. Outside of skiing, I love skateboarding, dirt biking, camping, rock climbing, yoga/meditation, and cooking! I also manage a team of 15 athletes for a helmet and goggle company. Fun fact - I have a ferret named Winnie :)

Devo Peer Coach: Rachel Eisenberg

Rachel was born and raised here in Salt Lake City, Utah. She started skiing just after she turned two and has not stopped since. At seven years old, she joined the Brighton Ski Team, as a second year U8, and raced through age fourteen. Her enthusiasm for the sport never stopped, which is why she decided to become a Peer Coach at the beginning of the 2022-23 season. This season will be her tenth year on the team and second year coaching. When she is not shredding on the slopes, Rachel enjoys swimming and mountain biking for her high school teams. Additionally, she has participated in martial arts since age six, and is now a certified junior instructor. The Brighton Ski Team allowed Rachel to truly fall in love with every aspect of the sport. From the physical benefits to the life-long friends she has made along the way, the Brighton Ski Team has truly shaped her as a well-rounded individual. She is so excited to be back for another season with this amazing team!

YSL TEAM

YSL Head Coach: Aspen Parker

Hey fellow snow lovers! My name is Aspen Parker. I was born and raised here in Utah. I have lived here my whole life and being completely honest, I will probably never leave. I love Utah so much. When I am not skiing, I am educating High School students about health. This consists of mental and emotional health, safety and disease prevention, substance abuse, nutrition, and human development. I am very passionate on the topic of health. I believe it to be one of the most important subjects for all to learn.

Now back to skiing, I have skied for over 20 years of my life. In those years I competed in Giant Slalom, Slalom, and Super G races for eight years. I was part of the Brighton Ski team all of those years. It has been an honor to be back and coaching on the same team that helped me become who I am today.

I started my coaching journey at age 15 as a peer coach for two years. Once I graduated high school, I found my way to southern Utah and became a ski instructor at Brian Head for two years. I finally decided it was time to come back home to the best resort there is (in my opinion), Brighton. As of this season, I have been coaching with Brighton for five years. Now that you know a little bit about me, I look forward to meeting each of you on the mountain and sharing the knowledge of outdoors and skiing!

YSL Coach: Emily Grace

Hi! My name is Emily! I was born and raised in Sandy, Utah and I am currently a student at the University of Utah studying mechanical engineering. I competed in racing for seven years for both the Brighton and Snowbird Ski Teams, and this is my second year coaching for Brighton! I am so excited to be here!

Fun facts: I love to read (send me any book recommendations!), drink coffee, hike, and camp. I love being outside (and skiing of course)! I am an ambassador for the Lindsey Vonn Foundation so let me know if you need some help or more info about scholarships!

I can’t wait to see what we can accomplish this season!

Bridge & South Series Team

Bridge & South Series Head Coach: Deborah Myers

Deborah's skiing journey began at age 3, with family ski vacations to Colorado from her Michigan home. Those magical childhood ski memories - exploring forests and ravines and racing Nastar - inspired Deborah to teach skiing in Vermont during her college years. The Rocky Mountains had captured her spirit early on, so she moved to Utah after college to pursue Utah's renowned powder. Deb continued instructing at Brighton and touring the Wasatch backcountry for another 25 years, influenced by inspiring mentors in a unique collaborative environment of technical analysis and training innovation. That ambitious culture motivated Deborah to achieve PSIA Level 3 Certification and decades of experience training instructors as a Training Supervisor.

During those years, Deborah moved up to Brighton, got married, started a family, while also becoming a certified yoga and stand-up paddle board instructor. Her daughter's growing passion for skiing brought her family to Brighton Ski Team for 10 years of racing. Deb soon joined the BST coaching staff, certified as a USSS coach, and has enjoyed five seasons working with BST athletes and parents. With the opportunity to work with her daughter Aurora, now a YSL Peer Coach, Deborah looks forward to another fun winter of using her training and experience to positively influence your athletes' skiing and racing skills, and to creating lasting memories with them on the mountain!
