On-Snow Training
The first on-snow training session of the 2024-25 season will be SATURDAY DECEMBER 7th, 2024!
All Brighton Ski Team athletes participate in Saturday training sessions at Brighton Resort. Athletes meet their coaches at the Ski Patrol a-frame (directly across from the Alpine Rose Lodge) ready to ski at 8:40 am. Athletes are responsible for bringing their own bag lunch to each training session. Training concludes at 3:00 pm for all athletes.
Evening training sessions will start the first week in January, conditions permitting. Tuesday evenings at Brighton are for YSL athletes. Athletes will train under the Snake Creek lights from 5-8pm. These training sessions allow for more free-skiing time, which is developmentally appropriate for younger athletes. Tuesday and Thursday evenings at Utah Olympic Park (UOP) are for South Series athletes. Athletes will train in full gates on from 6:30-8:00pm. These training sessions allow for a many rapid laps through a training environment more similar to a competition environment, which is developmentally appropriate for older athletes.

Here are some general notes for what you can anticipate for a race schedule:
YSL athletes can expect 3 races. All three races are co-ed. The first two of those races will be one-day events, and the third race will be a two-day event.
South Series athletes can expect 4 races. The first three races are one-day per gender events. In other words, they are two day events where the girls race one day and the boys race the other. The fourth race (Championships for qualifying athletes and Finals for everyone else) is a two-day coed event.
Please note that BST Bridge athletes may attend both YSL & South Series races.
BST will not be attending U14/U16 Qualifier or IMD Open events in the 2024-25 season.
Final Training Days
All athletes’ final training days will be the session prior to their final race. Families will receive updates from their athlete’s coaches as these dates approach. For the 2024-25 season, we are exploring the possibility of adding spring training camp dates at Brighton and/or Snowbird. These would be available for an additional fee and dependent on coach & athlete availability. Please reach out to us if you are interested in the possibility of a Spring Camp!
Devo/ YSL Season End Date: TBA, early March
Bridge/ South Series Season End Date: TBA, late March
*All season end dates reflect the date of the last race in which an athlete of that age group could participate. If an athlete is not participating in that race, their end date will be earlier and will be clarified as we approach the end of the season.
Ski School Races
BST hosts Ski School Races for the Brighton Ski School (Little Rippers) in February and March. This is a super fun event and one of the ways we introduce young skiers to alpine racing (and, by extension, invite them to join our team)! These races need lots of hands to set up, run, and take down - so keep an eye out for volunteer signups.
Family Ski Day
The BST Family Ski Day & Awards Cookout takes place at Brighton in late March - early April (date TBA). All athletes, family members, and friends are welcome! We will set up a dual panel slalom course (two courses side-by-side) and tailgate on the hill. Fun (and ski-safe) costumes are always highly encouraged! All athletes are recognized for their achievements and receive a personalized award from their coaches based on their accomplishments throughout the year, so we hope to see everyone there.
